About Epping Tower
Exhibition: Housed in a renovated tower from the 15th century, the exhibit, displayed throughout the six floors of Epping Tower, uses informational flags and historically relevant display items to bring to life the wonderful history of Tallinn's magnificent wall and tower complex. Dedicated research and cooperation with local experts in the field has resulted in a rich and educational environment. Authentic replicas of medieval arms and armour are available for visitors to try for themselves. We also offer a rotating series of medieval handicrafts for visitors to learn and experience. All visitors are invited to make for themselves a replica of Tallinn's first coin as a souvenir.
Mission Statement: MTÜ Elav Ajalugu (EA) is committed to engaging the
general public in the unique and fascinating medieval history of
Estonia through a series of hands-on and interactive experiences in
historical surroundings.
Means: EA accomplishes its mission by creating environments in which people can interact with history rather than simply reading about it. Our passion is to put Tallinn's medieval history into people's hands, literally. Our focus is on creating interactive displays and environments in which both locals and tourists can experience a taste of Estonia's medieval period. Employing a combination of actual artifacts, authentic reproductions, hands-on activities, period costumes, informational installations and historical environs, EA encourages guests to experience and learn about Estonia's rich medieval history, firsthand.
